Ironman Switzerland
In 2007 club member Martin Blacoe decided to take on a new challenge and had a go at a few triathlons.  Not one to rest on his laurels, for 2008 Martin entered Ironman Switzerland - no mean feat given that only a year before whenever he took to the water onlookers tended to throw life buoys in after him.

Martin completed the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run in 13:19:43 and raised over £2,600 for charity, including £1,800 to Yorkshire Velo's nominated charities Alzheimer's Society and MS Society.  Well done Martin.

Pennine 50
After a disappointing performance at the National 50 Doug bounced back in style to take over 2 minutes off his PB  in the Pennine 50.  Doug's 1:51:09 placed him 4th overall
