Velo shakes off it's 'testers' image!
Charles Tennick celebrating a fine win
Following Dan Shoreman's top ten placing at the early season Seacroft RR, new Velo members CharlesTennick, John Smith and Karl Denton have been getting our blue and black kit noticed across the North of England in various road races, helping to shake off our image of a 'testers' club!
Charles and John have been competing in the superbly organised North Midlands Road Race League, Charles returning from some time spent in France with a bang - bagging a 4th place on the Torworth circuit then following up the week later with a fine win at Race 5 (Charles's audible sprint captured for posterity on this video!). A further 3rd place at Torworth sees Charles lying in joint 3rd in the overall standings.
Not to be outdone, Newcastle based Karl has been putting in some great performances, considering he only started riding his bike again last year, and hadn't raced for 10 years. A solid ride at the early season Neil White Memorial RR, was followed by a fine 2nd at the first race in the North East TLI series. Competing on tough Northumbrian circuits in 2/3/4 events has seen his form come good. Journeying back to his native Yorkshire, Karl picked up his first BC points at the Eric Biddulph Memorial RR, held at Crow Edge. A fragmenting bunch saw him take 5th in the uphill sprint. This showing was then followed by a 4th at the North East TLI RR and a great ride at the very frenetic Leazes Park 2/3/4 Crit - leaving Karl the highest ranked 4th cat in the North East!
