April to June sees club records fall

The last few months has seen YV members out and about in increasing numbers, and vets and open records fall.

City RC (Hull) 10 - 10.04.09
Mike Marshall certainly had a Good Friday on the V718 course recording a new pb and club record of 19:53 which saw him place 6th in a top class field.

Ravensthorpe 10 - 18.04.09
The first event of the YCF points series saw Velo riders out in force.  Denise Shackleton picked up the prize for first lady.  Mike Marshall and Doug Hart placed 5th and 7th respectively, but both were beaten by second claimer Andy Jackson who finished 2nd to the legend that is Wayne Randle.  It was a similar story a little further down the field with Andrew Johnson, John Woods and Greg Thorley within 10 seconds of each other, but all being pipped by another second claim member Stephen Wood.

YCF 25 02.05.09
A tough day on the A19 saw seven club members in action.  Mike Marshall placed inside the top 10, whilst Nigel Goscinski recorded 57:37 for a new vets club record.

VTTA 30 10.05.09
Seven YV's took on the rare 30 mile distance on a chilly, but still, morning.  Doug Hart placed 5th, but was beaten by second claim members Andy Jackson (1st) and John Dewhirst (4th).  John Woods recorded 1:12:30 for a new vets record, but was narrowly beaten by Andrew Johnson riding his first 30 mile event.  Andy Waters produced a superb ride for a new pb of 1:15:59 which was consolation at seeing his vets record fall.

Andy Jackson (second claim) placed 2nd to Joel Wainman with Nigel Goscinski and Richmond Denton putting in good rides.  However ride of the night went to Andy Waters recording 23:19 for a new pb.

A windy and decidedly chilly afternoon on the V718 did not prevent several members recording new PB's: Hugh Smith 21:28; Andrew Johnson 21:20; Doug Hart 20:20.

YCF 15 - 21.06.09
Fine weather and light winds evened out the challenge of the 'Red Wall' course and gave Doug Hart the opportunity of finally taking Sean Maccarthy's long standing club record with 33:11 to finish 3rd overall.  Andrew Johnson and John Woods again showed how how evenly matched they are with 35.54 and 36:07 respectively.  Andy Waters recorded an LTS pb and Denise Shackleton took the women's prize.

OTLEY CC 50 - 28.06.09
Andy Waters produced a 14 minute pb with 2-12-47 for a new vets record which he held for 17 minutes until Nigel Goscinski finished with a rapid 1-52-42.  Not to be out done Mike Marshall recorded 1-49-39 for a new senior record.
